FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the minimum order quantity for vinyl pressing?
We produce runs starting from 50 copies, although we’ve even done editions as small as 20. Write to us and we’ll let you know what’s possible.
How long does the production cycle take?
Since we focus on quality over speed, timelines vary from 8-10 weeks. Every project is tuned individually to ensure absolute excellence.
Do you offer custom vinyl colors?
Yes, we can discuss various aesthetic options during the project tuning phase to match your artistic vision.
Can I visit the pressing plant in Trencin?
Of course, we’d be happy to welcome you to our pressing facility to discuss your project or attend the pressing of your record in person. Seeing it once is better than hearing about it a hundred times.
Is there a difference in sound quality between 140g and 180g vinyl records?
No. Both types of records are pressed using the same stampers and production process. The main advantage of a 180g record is that more material is used during manufacturing, making the record more resistant to external influences — especially heat and warping. A 180g record is considered a premium product, particularly appreciated by hi-fi enthusiasts, and is usually sold at a higher price than a standard 140g pressing.
What genres of music do you press?
We manufacture records for artists across all genres — from folk, classical music, and jazz to experimental music and spoken word. We do not manufacture Nazi, extremist, or hate-related content. FUCK-OFF NAZIS!!!!
Do I need any previous experience with vinyl production?
Not at all. Our production is tailored to each customer individually, whether you are an established label, a band, or a starting musician. We understand that the production process may seem complex, which is why we will assist you with everything necessary so you can enjoy your vinyl records and offer them to your fans as the result of both your work and ours. We strive to simplify vinyl production by using clear language and a friendly approach to help everyone who shows interest.
What is your quality control process?
Every record undergoes triple quality control, handled by skilled hands from pressing to final packaging. We listen to your music throughout the entire production process.
How many minutes of music fit on one vinyl record?
Regarding vinyl records, the fewer minutes per side, the louder the recording. For LPs, the ideal length is up to 20 minutes per side. If you provide audio that exceeds 22 minutes (max. up to 24 minutes), we charge an extra fee. These records are more complicated to manufacture. If your album concept allows, it’s best if the sides are roughly equal in length. The best results are achieved when the more dynamic tracks are at the beginning of the side and the quieter ones at the end.
Do you make one-sided records?
Of course, we produce single-sided records and also 3-sided double vinyls.
What audio formats do you accept?
We work with high resolution digital files and can advise on mastering requirements for vinyl.
Please, read "Pressing specification" section.
Can I submit the files separately, for example the audio first and the graphics later?
Yes, you can. But delivery time of 8 weeks starts after we receive the last correctly prepared and approved material.
Do you use re-grinded PVC?
No, never. We use only virgin vinyl PVC from the best manufacturers in Europe. For us, sound quality is the most important aspect of a record, which is why we do not use regranulate.
Can I provide my own lacquer?
This is possible, but in this case we are not able to guarantee what happened in the previous chain. The best way is to do everything with us. This way, we have the entire process under control from start to finish.
Do you offer worldwide shipping?
Yes, we ship records to artists and labels globally. But it should be kept in mind that shipping over long distances is somewhat risky and also significantly more expensive than within the region.
What kind of machines do you use?
We use excellent semi-automatic steamless machines from Newbilt Machinery. We operate one of the most environmentally friendly vinyl production setups available.
What makes Vinyl LAB different from other plants?
We reject industrial haste. Our small team understands the mechanical soul of every recording, because we built the machines ourselves, tested them, and learned how to use them properly.
Do you press 7 inch or 10 inch records?
No, we press 12" records only - 140g and 180g.
